Skylark is a bit of a slow starter when under saddle. He needs a good wakening up, so that he is on the aids and listening. In the beginning the rider needs to demand sensitivy to aids, otherwise Skylark will just be a slow snail without any elasticity in his gaits. He might get stubborn when obedience is asked, especially if the rider keeps up pressure. Quick, clear aids and repetition if needed is the way forward.

Skylark is not the most agile jumper in the world, but when he is warmed up he is able to gather up some nice results. He has a bigger frame and airy gaits, which makes outdoor arenas better suited for him. Skylark is not one for quick speedy turns, but in longer courses he is very corageous and sure.

In general Skylark is more calm and relaxed kind of a stallion. He can stand for hours in grooming, enjoying the brushing and even fall asleep. He gets along with everyone and every horse, and can get protective over youngsters in the paddock is other stallions are being too mean.
